Play Therapy
Play Therapy is a developmentally appropriate, evidence-based approach for children ages 1–5. Through play, children express emotions, process experiences, and learn healthier ways to manage big feelings and behaviors.
In sessions, Amy creates a safe, nurturing space where your child can explore emotions and build skills for communication, problem-solving, and social connection. Parents are actively involved to better understand their child’s needs and reinforce progress at home.
Common goals include:
-
Emotional regulation and self-expression
-
Cooperation and listening skills
-
Reducing tantrums and impulsive behavior
-
Building confidence and resilience

At Fort Worth & Southlake Play Therapy, we work with families to navigate the common difficulties young children face, providing targeted support for parents, caregivers, and siblings.

Let's Work Together
The first step is to assess the needs of the family and identify what areas they would like to work on in therapy. Once the specific needs are identified, the therapist can work with the family to develop a treatment plan that may include individual, parent-child, and/or family therapy. The therapist will also provide education and support to the family members on how to best communicate and interact with each other.
